Ques 1. What is Axiostat Bleeding Control made of?
Ans. Axiostat is made of a naturally occurring polymer known as Chitosan
which is extracted from shellfish. It is then processed, purified, and sterilized
to achieve the end product for patient use.
Ques 2. Is it safe to use in the nasal cavity without causing any irritation and/or infection?
Ans. It is made of a 100% natural biopolymer and is safe
to use entirely in nasal cavities during epistaxis or other nasal
trauma/ procedures leading to continuous bleeding without the risk
of any possible infection.
Ques 3. How easy is it to use Axiostat Nasal Bleeding Control?
Ans. It comes in sterile blister packaging and is available
in a ready to use format. It can be applied directly at the bleeding
site (Insert in the nasal passage, avoid deep insertion) and once the
bleeding stops (within a few minutes), it can be removed with
saline/water and discarded.
Ques 4. Can a single unit of Axiostat Nasal Bleeding Control be cut and used to control
bleeding occurring from both nasal passages simultaneously?
Ans. Although it does not lose its efficacy if cut or folded. Nevertheless, to suit the application site in the nasal segment, a specific design of 1cm * 4cm is being manufactured for best results.
Ques 5. Will Axiostat Nasal Bleeding Control absorb the pooled blood in the nasal passage
during application on the bleeding site?
Ans. Axiostat N14 is available in a densely formed sponge format,
due to which it has high absorption capacities. Therefore, during applications, Axiostat will absorb the pool of blood while stopping any further blood loss.
Ques 6. How to remove Axiostat N14 once applied?
Ans. Axiostat can be removed using saline or flushing with water. It
will turn into a gel that can be easily peeled off. This is one of the
major advantages of using Axiostat as it allows the patient to be
comfortable and at ease without causing any additional trauma to
the previously bleeding site.
Ques 7. Does Axiostat work on patients who are on blood-thinning drugs (Oral
or Injectables)?
Ans. Axiostat works independently of natural clotting mechanism and is much effective on patients who are on blood-thinning drugs.
